Siderurgica Investimenti Group publishes its 2025 Sustainability Report
2025 confirms the Group’s continued progress in improving its ESG performance, with significant results in reducing emissions, advancing resource circularity and investing in people, alongside clear signs of recovery in industrial and economic performance.
Siderurgica Investimenti Group has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards and covering the environmental, social and governance performance of the entire Group.
Following the extension of the reporting scope in 2024, the document represents the second edition of the Sustainability Report at Siderurgica Investimenti holding company level and continues the Group’s progressive alignment with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), further strengthening transparency and the measurement of ESG performance.
Environmental performance and circularity
In 2025, the Group continued its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint by improving the efficiency of its production processes, using energy from renewable sources and recovering and valorising residues generated by the steelmaking process.
Scope 1 and 2 emissions intensity stood at 0.179 tCO₂e per tonne, representing an 18% reduction compared to the 2022 baseline year. Renewable sources accounted for 30% of the energy consumed, while energy intensity remained substantially stable. In addition, from 2025, ISO 14064-1 certification, relating to the Organisation Carbon Footprint, was extended to the entire corporate perimeter of Siderurgica Investimenti Group.
Particularly significant results were achieved in terms of circularity. The Group used 1.92 million tonnes of scrap, while Alfa Acciai and Acciaierie di Sicilia products have a certified minimum recycled material content of 99%.
In 2025, waste generated amounted to 208,248 tonnes, representing a 48% reduction compared to 2023, a result achieved thanks to the recovery and valorisation of almost all black slag as a by-product. Waste sent for disposal decreased by 34% compared to 2023, mainly due to the valorisation of white slag.
Alfa Heat Recovery also continued to make an important contribution. The system recovers thermal energy otherwise dissipated by the Brescia steelworks and feeds it into the city’s district heating network. In 2025, the system delivered savings of approximately 4,500 toe/year, avoiding around 11,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year and reducing make-up water consumption by more than 4,000 m³ per year.
People, skills and local communities
The Group’s approach to sustainability also involves investing in people and skills. In 2025, the Group employed 1,210 people, 99% of whom were on permanent contracts. A total of 84 new employees joined the Group during the year, 60% of whom were under the age of 30.
Particular attention continues to be devoted to training and the transfer of skills between generations. Among the most significant initiatives is Alfa Academy, the IFTS training programme which, following the recruitment of all participants who successfully completed the first edition, continued with the launch of its second edition.
This initiative is complemented by the Group’s commitment to inclusion and equal opportunities, further strengthened by Alfa Acciai obtaining UNI/PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality certification.
Sustainability and industrial development
The Group’s ESG achievements came in a year also marked by a recovery in industrial and economic performance. The Group recorded €1.094 billion in revenue, steel production of 1.7 million tonnes and EBITDA of €21.4 million, an improvement of approximately €45 million compared to 2024. Investments during the year amounted to approximately €17 million.
Following the significant investments made in recent years, the Group continues to integrate industrial development, innovation, environmental sustainability and social responsibility, pursuing continuous improvement in its performance and creating value for its stakeholders and the local communities in which it operates.
The 2025 Sustainability Report and the 2025 ESG Summary are available in the Sustainability section of the Group’s website.
