R&D projects in progress

Material characterisation at the ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility) joint research facility in Grenoble, with the 58 MeV most powerful Synchrotron particle accelerator. The use of this powerful source of X-rays provides trace elemental analysis of materials and makes it possible to identify structural molecules.
Development of a new wire with controlled magnetic permeability for energy transport applications in the Offshore industry. The magnetic coupling of copper wire and metal strands protecting it is one of the factors to be taken into account in the cost-benefit analysis of the complex energy production and conveyance system. A material featuring lower magnetic permeability (excluding the very expensive stainless steel) generates less parasitic currents that makes the system more cost effective.
