Anti-seismic and eco-sustainable

Acciaierie di Sicilia is equipped with an electric-arc furnace and a rolling mill producing billets and reinforcing steel in bars and coils, by smelting ferrous scrap that undergoes preliminary X-ray control using state-of-the-art equipment.

 

The electric-arc furnace (EAF) feeds a continuous casting machine that produces 6-12 metre-long billets with a square cross section of 130x130 mm for in-house rolling and for sale.

The rolling mill situated immediately after the continuous casting machine ensures continuous operation through roughing, intermediate and finishing stands, thus completing the process with the Tempcore heat treatment process giving the end product the mechanical characteristics required to comply with national and international standards.

The plant downstream of the finishing unit has a complex system for cutting, packaging and fastening steel rebars in bundles of 6 to 15 m in length and 8 to 32 mm in diameter that guarantees a high quality standard.

In parallel with the packaging devices for rebars, Acciaierie di Sicilia is equipped with hot spooler for diameters of 8 to 16 mm.

 

The main production mark is “Eco-sustainable SteelB450C S that ensures excellent performance for anti-seismic behaviour. The product range also includes B500B and B500C grades and products complying with USA ASTM A615 standards for grades 40 and 60.
